Summary: Very budget hotel but excellent location and good value for money. Yes hotel is dated and very minimal but it felt pretty clean, friendly staff and had everything we needed. For the price this was very good value. Showers were super basic, mattress very old and dated but overall we had an okay stay.

Summary: Staff were helpful, but room was very basic.
It was too warm, the beds weren't comfy, the TV had neither any input connected nor a remote control, the door instructions said to "Dial 0 in an emergency" but there was no phone to do so.
The toilet and shower rooms were separate rooms down the corridor and shared with other rooms. Toilet room didn't have a sink, but room did, so you'd go to the toilet and then come back to your bedroom to wash your hands.
There were only one double plug socket in our triple-bed room, and it was not near any of the beds.
Hotel had WiFi but we were on the top floor and the WiFi didn't reach that far (not that we were given the password for it anyway). My phone got pretty poor reception inside the room, as well, so once inside the room we were kind of out of touch with the world.
One of the panes of glass in the window was cracked.
Think of this as more of a hostel than a hotel, and you might be alright.
Location was decent (5 mins from British Museum). Staff were friendly and helpful (e.g. lent us an umbrella to go wandering). We paid 105 pounds for one night (a Saturday in December 2025) for the basic 'twin' room that was actually a triple room.
Oh, and when we arrived at 3.05pm (check-in time was supposed to be 3pm) the room wasn't ready, so we went away and came back around 4.40pm and the room STILL wasn't ready, leaving us to wait in Reception until it was finally done.
Gets a second star for the location and helpful staff.

Summary: The window latch was nearly falling off so no security. The main door lock was loose nearly coming off the door. No bath/ shower mat - dangerous. TV remote batteries were dead. The room was small and very basic.

Summary: The room was in bad repair with a stained carpet and a broken curtain rail. The TV didn’t work despite asking for a remote control that didn’t materialise. The shared facilities were no better. This was a last minute booking and I wished I hadn’t bothered.

Summary: The only thing this hotel has going for it is location, in the middle of Bloomsbury. Inside it is very run down. The bed linen was clean thankfully, but the en-suite was grubby, hardly any water pressure from the taps. The single curtain at the window had a hook either end, and the ceiling and one of the walls had water stains, presumably from a leak above. Sorry Gresham, we won’t be back.

Summary: My husband and I travelled into London to see a show and not wanting to have to rush to get a train home decided to stay for the night.
Normally we book slightly more expensive hotels - in the 140-160 range with breakfast included but for this trip we decided to stay in a slightly less pricey hotel to cut costs.
The Gresham is in a fabulous location - no doubt about that. It’s perfectly situated for The West End and for many of the museums and galleries in central London.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Very warm and welcoming. The room was tired in terms of decor but that didn’t bother us at all - in fact it added a certain charm. It was also very clean.
The real issue for us were the mattresses which, although clean, were in terrible condition. Sagging on one side and every spring could be felt. The other issue was the noise - we were right by the road so there was traffic noise, music from cars ect all night but the first was noise from other guests.
We could hear every footstep above us, doors slamming, and at one point (about 3am) a group of very drunk guests started blaring music and having a sing song. Then at about 4 we heard ‘shenanigans’ thanks to a creaky upstairs bed.
We accept other people’s noises will sometimes be an issue when staying in hotels - however I had such a dreadful night’s sleep I probably won’t stay here again. I think it might be more suitable for a younger crowd who are out enjoying London nightlife.
