The dining room sets the scene for leisurely dinners around the antique table, with meals prepared in the gorgeous kitchen and served on the home's exclusive collection of vintage Villeroy & Boch porcelain tableware. Often referred to as the “Queen of the Pyrenees”, Luchon has long been celebrated for its refined charm, thermal heritage and spectacular mountain scenery. Furthermore, this area often brings cooler summer temperatures than much of southern France.
The château is set slightly above the road leading to Luchon, approached by a private driveway (a gentle uphill slope). Guests can stroll into the thriving spa and market town to soak up its relaxed atmosphere, where inviting cafés, bakeries, shops and a twice-weekly market line the streets. The renowned thermal spa complex (750m), recently reopened, continues a wellness tradition dating back to Roman times, offering the perfect place to unwind after a day outdoors.
The surrounding area offers a range of excellent activities including year-round courts at the town's excellent tennis club (1km) and a wonderfully maintained 9-hole golf course (1.7km). In the height of the summer, the Crémaillère Express cable car (1.3km) to Superbagnères opens up a network of scenic hiking, cycling and mountain biking trails, allowing visitors to experience the Pyrenees from breathtaking new perspectives. The Crémaillère Express cable car is open seasonally - both during the winter ski season and the summer mountain season (usually early-July to early September as well as certain weekends in June and September) - exact dates vary year by year.
