Charming XIX Century Home with Garden, Near River, Hiking Trails, and Historic Sites | Cottage in Saint-Pierre-sur-Erve
3 Bedroom Cottage in Saint-Pierre-sur-Erve
The former 19th-century presbytery, restored in 2002, offers an authentic setting. In the heart of the Erve Valley, at the foot of the Saulges canyon and caves, you'll be charmed by this village, classified as a "Petite Cité de Caractère" (Small Town of Character), nestled along the banks of the Erve River (fishing is permitted from March to September for first-category waters and year-round for second-category waters), creating a hilly landscape. The village is welcoming, with its restored stone houses, the river, the Cèdre bakery (organic wood-fired bread), and its seasonal bar. Discover the works of art scattered throughout the village and adorning the houses.
The cottage is detached with its own large enclosed garden, very close to the church. You'll appreciate its spacious living areas, ideal for spending time with family and friends: a dining room (18m²), a small living room (10m²) which can be opened up to create a second living room (18m²).
Upstairs, there are three lovely bedrooms: a master suite (18m²) with its own shower room (one 160x200cm bed and one 90x190cm bed), a bedroom with a crib (18m²) with one 160x200cm bed and one 90x190cm bed, and a third bedroom (9m²) with two 90x190cm beds. In total, there are two toilets and three bathrooms/shower rooms.
A sofa bed for two is located in the living room and is available upon request.
Starting from Saint Pierre, numerous hiking trails crisscross the countryside. Along the Erve River, you can reach the Saulges caves, a prehistoric site in an exceptional natural setting, offering climbing and a restaurant.
You are in the Coëvrons region, a land of art and history, in a remarkable natural and heritage area. Explore the charming small towns of Saulges and Sainte Suzanne (also listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France), with 40 marked hiking trails. Step back in time by visiting the Museum of Prehistory, the Roman town of Jublains, the Evron Basilica, and the castle and medieval town of Sainte Suzanne.
In the summer, you can enjoy the swimming ponds at the Gué de Selle leisure center in Mézangers, for example (swin-golf and canoeing are also available). A good selection of swimming pools can be found in Bais, Evron, and Sainte Suzanne for a refreshing dip. As you can see, the area is full of discoveries.
